Mountain Biking Magazine rated West Virginia as the 4th best mountain biking in the world, and Pocahontas County has some of the best mountain biking in the state.
Backpacker Magazine has the trail as one of the top ten hiking trails in the United States. The 78 mile, 35 bridge, 2 tunnel trail has less that a 1% grade that shows off its woodland, wildlife and wildflowers. It is not uncommon to cross paths with deer, grouse, wild turkeys, or even a black bear.
